About JAANA

Materials are my inspiration. I have a great collection of all kinds of stones, beads, pendants, seeds and nuts that are waiting to become jewellery.

For instance when creating a new necklace from orange cornelians I start by looking for something to match them. I pile them on the table and throw in anything in oranges, reds, browns and tans and start stringing.

When designing new silver pieces or a setting for a stone I might find a leaf or a shell and modify it to be a pendant or a frame that compliments the loose stone.

My silversmiths are village people who are very much in tune with nature around them, and often come with an odd shaped twig or a mushroom that they think I would like to have made into silver.
